A food distribution open to anyone in need will be held Friday at Highlands High School in Harrison.

The group “412FoodRescue” will hold a “Farmers to Families” food distribution from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school, 1500 Pacific Ave.

Boxes of food will be available for up to 1,000 cars, said Liz Fetchin, a spokeswoman for 412 Food Rescue.

Founded in 2015, 412 Food Rescue redirects surplus food from local waste streams to nonprofits that serve people in need.

Fetchin said each car will get a box full of fresh dairy and produce items from local donors Schneider’s Dairy and Chelan Fresh.

Boxes will include a variety of produce including apples, potatoes, and onions. Schneider’s Dairy will distribute milk.

Fetchin said two boxes of produce will be provided per household. Cars may pick up for multiple households.

Walk-ups will be accepted, she said.
