It would’ve been hard for motorists along Freeport Road in Springdale Township to miss Heidi Bair on Thursday.

Dressed as a bright red strawberry, the owner of John & Gerry’s Quality Fruit Market danced along the roadside to alert people that the store is open for the season.

The store at 2800 Freeport Road has been part of the borough for 61 years.

“My parents ran it for 30 years, and, when we took over, I always wondered if we’d beat them,” Bair said. “We finally did it.”

Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays. The market is closed on Sundays.
