Fugitive wanted on sexual assault charges nabbed in Sharpsburg

A man wanted on two charges of sexually assaulting a minor was apprehended in Sharpsburg on Wednesday, authorities said.

Travis Gladish, 38, of Wellsburg, W.Va., was arrested just after 11:15 a.m. after deputies from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office were tipped of to his location in the borough.

Gladish was wanted on two charges of sexual assault in the third degree with a person under 16 years old and two charges of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian.

According to the criminal complaint, Gladish is accused of sexually assaulting a female juvenile several times when the two were alone.

The victim told police that the assaults happened in Pennsylvania, as well as West Virginia, the complaint said.

The abuse started when the victim was about 5 years old, according to the complaint.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned that Gladish was hiding out in Sharpsburg and were able to locate him walking at Main and 19th streets.

Gladish surrendered and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment on the fugitive charge.

He will remain at the jail until he is extradited to West Virginia.
