Donations have started pouring in to help pay for a memorial for a New Kensington child murdered 40 years ago.

Tiffany Miller was 5 years old when she went missing from her home in Peach Court on Sept. 21, 1979. Her body was found in the Allegheny River in Plum eight days later.

Her death was ruled a homicide and remains unsolved.

Aaron Moore of Arnold, a friend of the family, is working to raise money for a bench with a plaque in Tiffany’s memory that would be placed in the city’s JFK Park, which is near where Tiffany lived.

The city is moving the park from 11th Street to a new location not far away on Fourth Avenue.

As of Monday afternoon, the “Tiffany Miller Memorial Fund” on the fundraising site GoFundMe had raised $965 toward a $5,000 goal from a dozen donors.

A $500 donation, the largest one so far, came from Vincent Miller, Tiffany’s uncle. He was a senior at Valley High School when Tiffany was murdered.

“Tiffany’s case has never received the national attention it deserved,” he said. “A day has not passed without me thinking about her.”
