Gilpin Township has welcomed one more supervisor.

Gary Hall, 65, was unanimously appointed to a vacant seat Thursday night. He’ll fill a position left by Kris Kulick in May.

“The biggest reason was to put faith back into the governance of Gilpin Township,” Hall said when asked why he decided to throw his hat into the ring for appointment. “There’s been alot of bickering (among supervisors) over the last six months, and more political unrest and very little getting accomplished.”

Hall’s appointment will last until the general election in November, when he will appear on the ballot for a six-year term.

During his time on the board, Hall hopes to increase transparency, revisit zoning policies and give back to his community.

“With Mr. Hall being on the ballot in the fall, it’s a great opportunity for him to get firsthand knowledge of the role should he be elected,” said chair of supervisors Tina Thompson.
