Trick-or-treat and events open only to residents of the designated community include:

• Allegheny Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Apollo: Trick-or-treat: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Goodies for Your Ghouls, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Apollo Hose Co. No. 2., 325 N. Fourth St. Free popcorn and drinks for children.

Brackenridge: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Buffalo Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Cheswick: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

East Deer: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

East Vandergrift: The parade will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Nuts! Nuts! Will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 31, followed by trick-or-treat at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is asked to wear a face mask.

Fawn: Township trunk-or-treat will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in the parking lot of Fawn No. 1 Social Hall. Set up will be at 4 p.m. Rain or shine. Decorate your car trunk or truck for a decorating contest and hand out prepackaged candy. Bring enough candy for at least 150 children. Registration required for trunk participants. Frazer: 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Residents are encouraged to place candy in bags and leave on their steps or on a table outside.

Gilpin: Township trunk-or-treat will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 at the fire hall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harmar: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Harrison: Trick-or-treat: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Kiski Township: Trunk-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the township fire hall parking lot, 1037 Route 56. Reservations required to hand out treats. Packaged candy only, no baked goods or treats in plastic bags please. Reservations: 412-601-1782

Lower Burrell: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29

New Kensington: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Plum: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Tarentum: A drive-thru treat distribution will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 17 on First Avenue near the park amphitheater. Cars should enter from Ross Street and will exit on Corbet Street. Trick-or-treat: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Vandergrift: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

West Deer: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Residents participating in trick-or-treat should turn on their porch lights.

Activities open to the public

Apollo Halloween Parade and Fall Festival, 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 24.

Allegheny County Parks Halloween Drive-in Movie, Oct. 23 at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater parking lot, Indiana Township. The film will be, “Hocus Pocus,” rated PG. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the free movie will begin at dusk. Gates will close when the movie begins, or the venue reaches capacity of 300 vehicles. Audio will be broadcast on 87.9 FM radio. Audubon Society Creatures of the Night, Oct. 15 to 17 and 22 to 24 at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, 614 Dorseyville Road, Fox Chapel. Sessions are at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. Come in costume to walk the trails and encounter larger-than-life costumed creatures and enjoy crafts and refreshments. Rain or shine. Building Block of Natrona Boo Bash, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in Natrona Community Park, 12-20 River Road. There will be a DJ, weather permitting, and treats. You don’t have to live in Natrona to participate. Candy will be distributed with social distancing enforced and face masks required for those not wearing one as part of their costume.

Fall Family Fun Jamboree, 1 p.m. Oct. 17 online at Zoom.us with Community Library of Allegheny Valley. Stories, songs, puppets and more. Registration required. Registration: alleghenyvalleylibrary.org

Generations House of Worship Trunk or Treat, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31, 1160 Parkside Drive, Brackenridge. Treats will be distributed and there will be a big screen movie. Bring a chair.

Kiski Township Halloween Community Extravaganza and Police and Fire Meet and Greet, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Kiski Township Firehall parking lot, 1037 Route 56. Residents and children who live in the Apollo- Ridge School District welcome. Children will receive a treat and a pumpkin and residents can meet the new members of the police force and fire company.

Leechburg Area Community Association Trunk or Treat, 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot of Leechburg Firehall, 268 Canal St.

Lingrow Halloween, 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at Lingrow Farm, 188 Forks Church Road, Gilpin. Costume contest, photo booth, children’s activities, outdoor movie, food, drinks and music. Bring a chair for the movie.

Monster Match Bowling Party, 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at Wildlife Lanes, 1000 Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell. Cost: $20 per bowler, includes three hours of bowling, shoe rental, and a 12-cut pizza and pitcher of pop per lane. Prizes will be awarded for best team costume, best costume and high scores. There will be raffles and a bake sale. Proceeds will benefit the Freeport Area High School Competitive Bowling Club. Registration required by Oct. 11. Registration: freeportbowling@gmail.com

Plum Free Movie in the Park, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the soccer fields at Larry Mills Park, Fontana Drive. The featured film will be, “The Addams Family,” rated PG. Bring a blanket or chair or sit in your car.

Spookapalooza, noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 at Kunkle Park, Washington Township. Free kids costume parade, activities and crafts and food trucks. Sponsored by Cub Scout Pack 500 in cooperation with Washington Township Supervisors. Details: Facebook.com/Pack500

Springdale Free Public Library Fall Festival, 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in Rachel Carson Park, Duquesne Avenue, Cheswick. Free pumpkin carving, games, crafts and snacks. Masks required. Registration required. Registration: 724-274-9729

Trick-or-treat on the Oakmont Blvd., 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29. Businesses will hand out candy to children 12 and younger. Masks required for those not wearing one as part of their costume.

Valley Points Family YMCA Haunted Hustle 5K and 2K Spooky Sprint, 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 31 in Officer Derek Kotecki Park, Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell. Costumes encouraged. The Spooky Sprint for youth will have candy stations along the course. Details: visit Valley Points Family YMCA on Facebook.

Vandergrift Public Library Halloween Costume Contest, through Oct. 27. Share a photo of your children or family to the library Facebook page or email vandergriftlibrary@gmail.com. All entries will be entered into a raffle to win a $5 gift card to Sweetlane Chocolate Shop. Winner will be announced Oct. 28.
