Allegheny Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30

Apollo: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30

Arnold: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31

Avonmore: All events are Oct. 30. A parade will line up 4 p.m. near the Children’s Clinic, 619 Cambria Ave., and step off at 4:30 p.m. A trunk-or-treat, costume contest, refreshments and games will be afterward on Fifth Street and in the firehall parking lot. Trick-or-treat will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Brackenridge: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Buffalo Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Cheswick: 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 Costume parade at 4:30 p.m. on Spruce Street in front of the firehall

East Deer: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

East Vandergrift: A parade will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 on Quay Street. Nuts! Nuts! will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Slovak Club. Trick-or-treat will be immediately afterward.

Fawn: Free trunk-or-treat, 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Fawn Fire Hall No. 1, 497 Lardintown Road. There will be food trucks, a parade and activities. Participants should be in costume and accompanied by an adult. To sign up for a trunk spot, visit the Fawn Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 Station on Facebook.

Fox Chapel: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Frazer: 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30

Freeport: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30. A parade will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the firehall on Market Street. Rain date is Oct. 28.

Gilpin: Trunk-or-treat, 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 in the township firehall parking lot, 113 Firehall Road. Residents wishing to hand out candy should park in the fire department lot. Families with children should park in the Kalmar Motors parking lot, and township police will be on hand to help you to cross Route 66.

Harmar: 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31

Harrison: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30.

Indiana Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Kiski Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30. Trunk-or-treat also 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 in the fire department parking lot, 1037 Route 56. Reservations required to decorate your vehicle and hand out treats. Packaged candy only. No baked goods or treats in plastic bags. Reservations: Diana Dowling, 412-601-1782

Kittanning: A parade will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in front of the firehall, South Jefferson Street. All participants must wear a pandemic face covering.

Leechburg: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. A parade will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the firehall, 268 Canal St. Judging and lineup begins at 6 p.m. There will be prizes for individuals, groups and large and small floats.

Lower Burrell: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

New Kensington: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30

Oakmont: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Plum: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

South Buffalo: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30. A trunk-or-treat will be held at the same time at South Buffalo Firehall, 100 Firehall Road. Set-up will begin at 5 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to best trunk and best costume.

Springdale: 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31

Tarentum: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Vandergrift: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30. A parade for children 12 and younger will line up at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Kennedy Park gazebo, rain or shine. Treats will be distributed at the end of the parade route. If it rains, the parade will end at Vandergrift No. 1 Fire Department.

Washington Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

West Deer: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

West Leechburg: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Winfield: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

Residents participating in trick-or-treat should turn on their porch lights.

Activities open to the public

Apollo

• Halloween Bingo, Oct. 30 at Apollo Hose Company No. 2, 325 N. Fourth St. is canceled. Ticket refunds will be available at the regular weekly Wednesday night bingo at the firehall. Details: 724-549-1601 or shelbymiller80@gmail.com

Apollo Area Historical Society Haunted Cabin, 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at Drake Log Cabin. Old movie thrillers will be screened. Rated PG-13. Bring snacks and a blanket or chair.

Buffalo Township

Audubon Society Creatures of the Night, Oct. 29 at Buffalo Creek Nature Park. Sessions are at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. Come in costume to walk the trails and encounter larger-than-life costumed creatures and enjoy crafts and refreshments. Rain or shine. Cost: $10; members, $6; free for 2 and younger. Reservations: aswp.org or 412-963-6100

• The seventh annual Freeport Girls Basketball Howl-O-Ween Hustle 5K/10K Fun Run and Walk with virtual option, 9 a.m. Oct. 30 at the Monroe Road Trailhead of the Butler Freeport Rails-to-Trails Trailhead. All skill levels welcome. Costumes encouraged. Registration required by Oct. 14 to receive a T-shirt. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Free parking and restrooms available. Registration: runsignup.com. Proceeds benefit the Freeport Girls Basketball program.

Fawn

• Haunted Mine at Tour-Ed Mine, 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in October at the mine, 748 Bull Creek Road. Cost: $20, cash and credit cards accepted. Free parking.

The Shadows Haunted Attraction, 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in October. Admission: $15. Groups of 10 or more may call ahead for a price. Details: 724-472-5979

Fox Chapel

• Fox Chapel Area High School National Honor Society Boo Bash, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the high school, 611 Field Club Road, free for children in prekindergarten through third grade. There will be treats, games and prizes. Costumes encouraged. Nonperishable food donations will be accepted for the district’s Backpack for Hunger and the Sharpsburg Little Free Pantry. Parents required to accompany their children. Masks required according to CDC guidelines. Park near the tennis courts and use the auditorium entrance. Reservations required by Oct. 25. Gilpin

• Christ the King Parish Halloween Dance, Oct. 30 in the parish hall, 125 Park Road. Doors open at 7 p.m. and a buffet dinner will be served at 8. Tickets: $40 per couple; $25 per person, includes beer and buffet. BYOB. Music by DJ Mixmasters. Costumes optional. Must be 21 to attend. Proceeds benefit the church. Tickets: 724-842-4981

• Gilpin Township K-9 unit food truck rally, 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 at the old municipal garage on Firehall Road.

Leechburg

Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department Great Pumpkin Carving Contest, Oct. 30. Children can bring a carved pumpkin by 6 p.m. to compete for prizes. Entries will be judged by age groups, and categories include most creative and scariest. Entry forms are available at the library, 139 Market St.

Pumpkin Trail, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 30 in downtown businesses on Market Street. Children can wear a costume and stop in at Leechburg Public Library, 139 Market St., to pick up a pumpkin card that tells them which businesses have treats. The trail ends at the firehall, where hot dogs and drinks will be served and Leechburg Public Library will have a storytime at 1 p.m.

Trunk-or-treat, 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 in the firehall parking lot, 268 Canal St. Set-up will begin at 1:15 p.m. Sponsored by Leechburg Public Library and Leechburg Volunteer Firemen. To register to pass out candy, call Doreen Smeal at 724-448-4188.

Lower Burrell

Valley Points Family YMCA Haunted Hustle 5K and 2K Spooky Sprint, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 30 at Officer Derek Kotecki Memorial Park, Wildlife Lodge Road. Costumes encouraged. The Spooky Sprint for youth will have candy stations along the course. Details: visit Valley Points Family YMCA on Facebook

Puckety Presbyterian Church Trunk-or-Treat, 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 in the church parking lot, 1009 Puckety Church Road, Parking available in the Burrell High School lot. There will be a prize for the best decorated car and games and treats for children. Some trunks will participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project that hands out non-food treats so children with allergies and medical conditions can have fun. Details: Kelly, 724-339-1323

New Kensington

AK Valley Park Trunk-or-Treat, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 in the park rear lot, 600 Freeport Road. A prize will be awarded to the best-decorated vehicle. Hot dogs, warm apple cider, chips and beverages will be sold.

• Monster Mash, Oct. 30 at New Kensington Arts Center and Voodoo Brewery, both on Fifth Avenue. Kids costume party, 4 p.m. and prizes awarded at 5:30 p.m. at Voodoo Brewery. Adult costume contest, DJ and hip-hop performers from 7 to 10 p.m. at Voodoo Brewery.

Oakmont

Oakmont Chamber of Commerce Halloween Parade and Trick-or-Treat on the Blvd., 10 a.m. Oct. 30 on Allegheny River Blvd. Line-up by 9:45 a.m. on Isabella Street behind the Quik-Fil. A fall festival will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain or shine.

Springdale

Springdale Open Bible Church will hand out free goodie bags from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, 401 Colfax St.

Tarentum

• BridgePoint Church will host a free Tricks ‘N Eats event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, 400 E. Ninth Ave. Children will receive free hot dogs, drinks, snacks, treat bags and a pocket Bible. The movie, “Holy Ghost,” will be screened in the sanctuary.

Vandergrift

Vandergrift Public Library Halloween Spook-tacular, 6 p.m. Oct. 26 for all ages. Costumes welcome. Registration required. Registration: 724-568-2212

Great Pumpkin Patch, noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 in Franklin Park. There will be free pumpkins, music, bean bag toss and a costume contest. Sponsored by the Vandergrift Parent Project and Vandergrift area Girl Scouts.

Winfield

• Butler-Freeport Community Trail will offer tours of the Cooper Caboose from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Winfield Trail Junction. The caboose will be decorated for Halloween (kid friendly) and there will be Eat N’ Park Smiley cookies, Soergel’s apple cider and hot chocolate. Trail shirts and Free Wheeling Easy books will be sold.
