The Tarentum Police Department was selling blue porch light bulbs from 6 to 7 Friday to assist the family of the late Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire.

They sold out 124 blubs within 15 minutes.

The bulbs were on sale online and outside of the borough building and police station, at 318 E. Second Ave.

The suggested donation was $5.

Amanda Zenuh with Project Blue Light Pittsburgh helped facilitate the sales.

She said they sold out in less than 15 minutes; there were about 40 people lined up outside the police station prior to the 6 p.m. start. Some of the blue porch light bulbs were sold online ahead of time and the buyers picked them up at the police station.

“People support (police),” said Zenuh, of Fawn. “They love their community. Unfortunately, it took a tragedy for the rest of the world to see that.”

Zenuh said they hope to get 250 more bulbs for sale next week. A date and time has not been scheduled.

All proceeds will benefit McIntire’s family. The sale is being held with the cooperation of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
