Harmar parks and the township soccer complex will be closed until further notice due to coronavirus concerns.

Township police posted the announcement Thursday on their Facebook page.

“Due to increased instances in which individuals utilizing our parks have not been following the CDC social distancing recommended guidelines, we have to take the unfortunate action to close all sites until further notice. We will update you on this decision on May 1,” the post read.

“The majority of the staff here have school age children and understand the struggle,” the post continued. “We want to thank everyone for their understanding and patience.”

Lower Burrell in March also made the decision to close down its parks to the public because people weren’t social distancing appropriately, officials said. Pittsburgh closed its overlooks, soccer fields and playgrounds.
