An Apollo area man involved in a fatal crash in Harmar in January died from injuries apparently sustained in the crash, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said Friday.

Richard C. Bailey, 65, died just after 8 a.m. on Jan. 24. His car sped across two parking lots and crashed into a creek near Gulf Lab Road and Anchor Drive in Harmar.

The medical examiner’s office said he died from blunt force trauma and ruled the death accidental.

It’s still unclear what led to the crash. Police continue to investigate, said Allegheny County Police spokesman Jim Madalinsky.

He said Tesla, the car’s manufacturer, is not involved in the investigation.

“We are still awaiting toxicology reports and vehicle data related to the investigation and have nothing further to share at this time,” Madalinsky said.

Detectives at the scene were investigating electric vehicle charging stations in a nearby parking lot, and it appeared the vehicle entered the creek from that direction.

Bailey’s vehicle also hit a parked car in the Primanti’s lot during the incident.
