Crews with Greensburg-based Allegheny Restoration completed masonry work this week on the veterans’ Honor Roll memorial at Freeport and Springhill roads in Harrison.
Over three days, the company removed mortar between the limestone memorial’s stones, repointed it, pressure washed it, replaced broken stone, applied caulking on its cap stones, and patched some stone, said Ed Draskovich, a sales estimator with Allegheny Restoration.
They also repaired patches on the backside of the memorial and repainted it.
Its panels of painted names of World War II veterans are expected to be replaced with etched granite.
The Harrison Township Honor Roll Restoration Committee expects to rededicate the restored memorial on Memorial Day 2020.
