Harrison commissioners are going to try to get by on one meeting per month instead of two.

Commissioners President Bill Heasley said he is recommending the five-member board cancel its agenda meetings through August to see how it works.

Those meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month. The regular meeting would continue to be held on the Monday following the third Thursday, he said. Both start at 7 p.m.

This Thursday’s agenda meeting is cancelled for Holy Thursday, Heasley said.

Summer meetings are complicated by vacations and other activities, he said.

“We don’t really need to have two meetings a month,” he said.

Heasley said commissioners will discuss canceling the meetings when they next meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22. It will be done as long as a majority of the board agrees. Heasley said he has not heard any opposition to the idea.

The decision would be subject to change at any time, Heasley said.
