Yuri Brookings, managing partner of BrookingsBEST Services of Brackenridge, works to install a downspout as part of a new gutter on a home in Harrison on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025. Homeowner Wilda Chase was chosen to receive assistance with some work at her home of nearly 30 years by ‘Hands Off Home Maintenance,’ a partnership of contractors who for every three home maintenance packages bought donates one to someone in need.

A Harrison homeowner was happy that some long-needed work on her house was being done right.

Wilda Chase’s home of nearly 30 years was the beneficiary of “Hands Off Home Maintenance,” or “HOHM,” a collection of contractors who donate their services to someone in need, with a focus on widows, foster families and disabled veterans.

“We’re trying to spread some good in the community,” said Yuri Brookings, managing partner of BrookingsBEST Services in Brackenridge.

In addition to Brookings’ company, those working on Chase’s home last Saturday included AE Home Improvements of Tarentum, Steel City Stripes of West Deer, Homeboys Seamless Gutters of Winfield and SMC Home Improvement of Tarentum.

The work on her house included gutters and downspouts, which had been damaged by ice, and front stairs.

“They’re doing a good job,” Chase said. “I really appreciate what they’re doing for me.”

More contractors are being sought to join the effort. They would like to be able to help one homeowner on the third Saturday of every month, said Jayden Linder of Harrison, a volunteer with HOHM.

“The more people we can reach, the more people we can help,” he said.

Contractors interested in joining the effort and homeowners wishing to request help can do so by email to contact@hohm.services.
