A Harrison man was charged with felony criminal mischief and a dozen other counts accusing him of shooting up a house after getting into an argument with people there watching a Steelers game.
In addition to the felony count, Zeya Dixon, 24, of Park Avenue, Sheldon Park, was charged with 10 counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of simple assault.
Dixon is being held in the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh after a judge denied bond because Dixon is considered a danger to the community, according to court records.
Police say a group of people were at a home in the 1400 block of Fourth Street in Harrison’s Campton neighborhood on Dec. 9 watching football when police were dispatched at about 10:35 p.m. for a report of shots fired.
The homeowners said Dixon came to the house to pick up his girlfriend and the couple continued an argument that began earlier in the day, the complaint said.
Police said the homeowner asked Dixon to leave and that another man tried to escort him from the property.
Dixon is accused of pulling out a gun, pointing it at the homeowner and threatening to kill him, the complaint said.
As the second man pushed Dixon out the front door, he fired a shot, police said.
After the men closed the door, they said, Dixon fired two more rounds at the house before fleeing in a car, according to the complaint.
Investigators said they found spent .22-caliber shell casings outside the house that were marked with the letter “A” on the back near the primer.
The homeowner told police his swimming pool and fence were struck by gunfire, the complaint said.
Harrison police said they were familiar with Dixon. They sent an alert to patrol officers in Brackenridge and Tarentum with a description of him and the car he was driving.
Brackenridge police searched the area near the Sheldon Park public housing complex where Dixon lives, the complaint said.
About 30 minutes after the shooting, Dixon’s car was stopped at the intersection of Park Avenue and Municipal Drive and he was taken into custody, the complaint said.
Police said they spotted a handgun tucked between the driver’s seat and center console of the Ford Fusion that Dixon was driving along with two live rounds of .22-caliber ammunition on the floorboard.
Police said they confiscated the handgun and that one of the rounds recovered had the same “A” marking as the shell casings collected at the shooting scene, the complaint said.
After the vehicle was towed, police obtained a search warrant and discovered multiple rounds of ammunition in the center console of the car, according to arrest papers.
