Harrison and Plum are among 13 Allegheny County municipalities in need of poll workers ahead of Election Day.

The county is seeking workers for what is typically a 15-hour day spent helping people at the voting booths.

Workers are paid $150 to $175 for the day and also receive paid training.

The county has more than 6,800 workers for its 900 polling sites.

Election Day is Nov. 4. Other areas needing poll workers include Baldwin, Clairton, Collier, Coraopolis, Crafton, Dormont, McCandless, Moon, Penn Hills, Pleasant Hills and South Fayette.

County spokeswoman Abigail Gardner said previously about three-fourths of poll workers return year after year. They include a wide range of ages, including high school students.

Poll workers must be a registered voter of the county and may not be a candidate running for a public office on the ballot in that district.
