Harrison police are investigating after a flurry of gunshots rang out early Wednesday.

Officers responded just after midnight to the area of Park Avenue, near the Sheldon Park housing plan, an Allegheny County-run apartment complex behind Heights Plaza.

“We responded after several people called to say they heard gunshots. We believe they are substantiated reports,” Chief Brian Turack said.

Officers were assisted by Tarentum police to canvass the area behind Planet Fitness and were also seen walking through Sheldon Park.

No shell casings were found and no witnesses have came forward, Turack said.

“We’re thankful to the people who called to report the situation,” he said.

Anyone with further information is asked to call police at 724-224-3355 or submit a tip on the townships website, harrisontwp.com.

The incident comes after county housing police have been conducting more frequent foot patrols of the area following a June shooting in which a 33-year-old man was critically injured. A 15-year-old boy was charged in the shooting.
