Harrison seeking bids for work on roads, alleys
Harrison is considering making improvements along nearly two dozen roads and alleys this year.
The township has budgeted $450,000 for road work. Most of that — almost $408,000 — is expected to be spent on repairing and resurfacing 16 roads and alleys.
About $40,000 is expected to be spent seal coating five alleys.
Sealed bids for both projects are due by 4 p.m. May 4.
Roads included in the 2020 road program are:
• McWilliams Drive, from Springhill Road to new pavement;
• All of Lawest Drive;
• Roosevelt Street, from Painter Avenue to Jefferson Avenue and from Jefferson to Harrison Avenue;
• All of Ivanhoe Street;
• Alley #4, between Lilac and Maple streets;
• Alabama/Minnesota avenues, from Arizona Avenue to Florida Avenue;
• Broadview Boulevard, from Dallas Avenue to JP Marino Boulevard;
• Carlisle Street, from Georgia Avenue to Mile Lock;
• High Street, from Burtner Road to Painter Avenue;
• Amazon Alley, from California Avenue to Montana Avenue;
• Vermont Alley between 11th and 10th avenues, from Argonne Drive to Mile Lock Lane;
• Delaware Alley between 9th and 10th avenues, from Argonne Drive to Mile Lock Lane;
• All of Beacon Street;
• All Summer Street;
• Idaho Avenue, from BroadviewBoulevard to Pacific Avenue;
• Philadelphia Avenue, from Blue Ridge Avenue to Wood Street.
Roads that would be seal coated include all of Mayflower Alley, Earnhardt Way, Dale Alley and Laurel Alley. Westminster Alley would be seal coated from Springhill Road to Mayflower Alley.
Last year, commissioners had to scale back how many roads were worked on after two contracts came in nearly $80,000 over the township’s budget.
