Harrison woman treated after attack by her own dogs
A Harrison woman was treated late Tuesday after being attacked by her two dogs.
Police Chief Brian Turack said no charges were filed in the incident.
Emergency crews responded at about 8:50 p.m. to the 1100 block of Lane Avenue for a 45-year-old woman who suffered bite wounds and multiple lacerations to her arms and legs.
“Police officers applied emergency trauma dressings due to the severity of the bleeding while waiting for EMS,” Turack said.
A-K PULSER and Eureka Community Ambulance responded. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The dogs were secured in the woman’s home.
According to the police report, the dogs were fighting with each other and the woman stepped in to stop them. That’s when they attacked, Turack said.
He did not identify the breeds.
Harrison police have seen an uptick in the number of dog-related calls in recent weeks, Turack said.
He encouraged people to keep pets vaccinated, licensed and secured.
