Harrison woman's death ruled accident, husband won't be charged

A 72-year-old Harrison man will not be charged in the death of his wife, who died after he hit her with a vehicle in August, according to Allegheny County Police.

Shirley Anne Jump, 65, died after she was hit in the driveway of the couple’s Village Green Road home on Aug. 30, county police Lt. Venerando Costa said.

At the time, Allegheny County Police said it appeared Jump’s husband struck her after inadvertently pushing the gas pedal instead of the brake.

On Monday, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner released its determination that Jump’s death was an accident.

Costa said no charges are expected to be filed against Jump’s husband.

A native of Ohio, Jump lived most of her life in the Natrona Heights area of Harrison and was a homemaker, according to her obituary.

Services for Jump were held Sept. 3 at Duster Funeral Home in Tarentum.
