Tropical storm force winds could hit western Pennsylvania Sunday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Moon.

Meteorologist Lee Kendricks said Sunday morning that sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected to begin around lunchtime today and last through Monday morning. The region could see wind gusts of up to 60 mph during the same period, he said.

“With the ground as wet as it is right now there are potential problems of power lines coming down,” Hendricks said.

The wind is expected to be the biggest issue on Sunday. Scattered rain showers will continue in the morning but should come to an end in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, temperatures will continue do drop throughout the day, falling into the 20s tonight and into Monday morning.
