Highlands School District has confirmed another covid-19 case at its schools.

In response to an inquiry from the Tribune-Review on Wednesday morning, Superintendent Monique Mawhinney said there is a positive case at Highlands High School.

Mawhinney did not say if the person testing positive was a student or staff member. She did not address questions about any impacts of the diagnosis, including if anyone is under quarantine or if the district is considering any changes to its hybrid schedule.

“The district continues to work with the Allegheny County Health Department to assure we are following the proper procedures,” she said in an email. “In addition, we are following the guidelines in our health and safety plan and communicating with the appropriate people.”

The positive case at the high school comes just over a week after the district was notified that a middle school student had tested positive for the virus.

In an email obtained by the Tribune-Review, middle school Principal Kimberly Price said the student is on the school’s soccer team.

Teammates in close contact with the student were advised to quarantine for 14 days. Students were expected to return Thursday, Price said in the email.
