The closed Highlands Support Center in Fawn on Monday, July 8, 2019. The school district is taking sealed bids for the property, formerly an elementary school and primary center, and has set a lowest acceptable bid of $500,000.

Bids to buy Highlands School District’s former elementary school in Fawn are due by noon July 29, according to an announcement from the district.

The district is selling the Highlands Support Center, which the school board voted in May to permanently close. It had previously been a primary center and elementary school.

The 30,000-square-foot school sits on nearly 15 acres at 5591 Ridge Road.

Bids exceeding $500,000 “will be given preferential treatment,” the district wrote on a bid form.

School board President Debbie Beale previously said the district had set a $500,000 minimum bid based on an appraisal.

The bid form asks bidders to specify their proposed use for the property — residential, commercial or industrial — and to provide a description of their would-be project.

Bid packets are available at the district administration office behind Highlands High School in Harrison and the district’s website.
