Highlands School Board is scheduled to interview three candidates for a vacant seat on the board Tuesday evening in its first virtual meeting since the covid-19 pandemic shuttered schools.

An agenda for the meeting identified the candidates as Nicole Kocon, Autumn Monaghan and Debra Lehew.

Lehew, the district’s former special education director, resigned last year. She was paid just over $16,000 as part of a resignation agreement.

The seat, one of three in the district’s Region 2, became vacant when Misty Chybrzynski, former board president, resigned in March. Chybrzynski resigned because she moved out of the region, which covers Brackenridge and the Natrona section of Harrison.

The special voting meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The public will have access to it through Zoom and any of four telephone numbers.

The district has provided instructions for Zoom online. The Zoom meeting will be accessed through this link.

According to the meeting agenda, the telephone numbers to call in for audio are:

• 312-626-6799

• 929-205-6099

• 346-248-7799

• 669-900-6833

The meeting identification number is 219-370-398.

Residents are permitted to address the board on agenda items at the start of the meeting. Interviews of the candidates and a vote to make an appointment are the only business items listed on the agenda.

The agenda said comments will first be taken from those who are on the Zoom livestream. Those wishing to speak are instructed to use a “raise hand” function to be called upon.

Those not on Zoom can call 724-226-4500, ext. 4522 to address the school board.
