HomeGoods coming to The Waterworks
Home decor shoppers will likely be in their glory with the news that HomeGoods is coming to The Waterworks shopping center.
The design and accessory retailer is expected to open later this year at shopping plaza along Freeport Road near Aspinwall.
The store will fill the empty Bed Bath & Beyond store near Dunham’s, Waterworks spokeswoman Mara Mrvos said.
HomeGoods will fill the entire vacant space, which is about 30,000 square feet.
Mrvos said a complete renovation will be necessary to outfit the space for the off-price apparel and home fashions retailer.
HomeGoods touts itself as a shopper’s paradise with an eclectic selection of lamps, rugs, frames, art, small furniture and other decorative accessories.
“You don’t go shopping, you go finding” is the store’s slogan.
TJX Cos. operates HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, which also are located in the shopping center.
The Waterworks shopping center is owned by the J.J. Gumberg Co.
“We are pleased that HomeGoods will be joining other TJX concepts at The Waterworks,” said Ira Gumberg, chairman and CEO. “We believe they will be a welcome addition to the local market.”
TJX Cos. owns nearly 4,700 stores around the world.
HomeGoods also has stores in Cranberry, McCandless, Monroeville and Robinson.
In late 2022, The Waterworks lost the Walmart anchor that sat just across from the empty Bed Bath & Beyond space. The store operated for nearly 20 years but closed after company officials cited underperforming sales. That vacant space is more than 80,000 square feet.
