A section of Hulton Road on the border of Penn Hills and Plum is scheduled to be closed from Wednesday to Friday.
Beginning early Wednesday, Hulton Road will close to all traffic between Michael Drive and Iowa Street so crews can locate underground utility lines in advance of a project to make landslide-related repairs. The road is expected to reopen by noon Friday.
Signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure.
The section of road has been reduced to one lane since a February 2018 landslide.
The prep work is being done ahead of a repair project that is expected to cost up to $4 million. The project will be open for bidding by the end of April with construction expected to start by May, PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said.
The project includes 700 feet of road and shoulder reconstruction and installing a retaining wall.
PennDOT is paying for the work with the help of emergency state funding, Cowan said.
