A Scott Township man arrested last year in connection with a series of road rage incidents was detained by ICE agents following an altercation at the district court office in Plum, according to court documents filed Wednesday.
Vishavdeep Singh, 22, of Scott was charged in November with multiple felonies after he threatened multiple drivers in the Oakmont area with what was thought to be a shotgun, police said. The gun turned out to be an Airsoft pellet gun.
He also is charged with harassment, simple assault and aggravated assault in connection with the Wednesday altercation.
A preliminary hearing for the alleged road rage incidents was initially scheduled for Dec. 17, according to court records. It was continued twice — once to Jan. 28 and a second time to Wednesday.
Before Singh arrived Wednesday morning for the rescheduled hearing, ICE agents told a constable at the Plum district court office they would arrest the 22-year-old, according to a criminal complaint filed by Plum police. At the constable’s request, the ICE agents agreed to wait until after the hearing to take Singh into custody, the complaint says.
When Singh arrived for the hearing, he was called into the courtroom and placed in handcuffs. The constable told him he was detained and a verbal altercation arose, the complaint says. The constable then informed Singh that ICE agents were on the property.
Singh, still in handcuffs, shoved the constable, left the courtroom and ran toward the front door of the building, the complaint says.
The constable caught up with Singh and tackled him to the ground.
Another constable in the court office told police she attempted to grab Singh with both hands, but he shoved her away — causing her to fall and hit her head. She was taken via Plum EMS to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville for bruising on the right side of her forehead.
The ICE agents, who had been waiting in their vehicle, entered the court office and arrested Singh, the complaint says.
A preliminary hearing for the charges filed against Singh on Wednesday has yet to be scheduled.
