An Indiana County man is charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Allegheny Township police charged Daniel Travis Kinney, 30, of Washington Township, Indiana County, with four felony counts of aggravated indecent assault against a person under 16, five felony counts of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault.
Kinney is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison and was unable to post a $75,000 bond, according to court records. He faces a preliminary hearing April 9 before District Judge Cheryl Peck-Yakopec.
In court papers, police state that, in December, they got a call from a woman saying her daughter was a victim of sexual assault while attending a wedding in September. The mother told police that Kinney had inappropriately touched her daughter, according to the complaint.
During a forensic interview, the girl said Kinney inappropriately touched her multiple times and tried to have sex with her. When police questioned the girl in February, her statements “were extremely consistent with the forensic interview,” police wrote in the complaint.
Police interviewed Kinney at the Allegheny Township police station in March where, the complaint says, Kinney admitted to inappropriately touching the girl and that he knew she was 14.
