Jersey Mike's eyes Harrison spot
A sub above the rest is coming to Harrison.
Jersey Mike’s has submitted a building permit application to fill a vacancy at Highlands Mall on Freeport Road, township officials said.
“The space is the former Game Stop,” Township Manager Amy Rockwell said.
The application is under review, she said. The space sits between Dunham’s Sports and Walmart.
Jersey Mike’s did not return requests for comment. Nor did mall owner Mendel Bohm of New Jersey.
Founded in 1956, the restaurant is headquartered in Manasquan, N.J. The franchise has about 3,500 locations across the U.S., Canada and elsewhere.
The closest location is in Harmarville. Other locations include Blawnox, Monroeville and Murrysville, according to the company’s website. The company also is in the process of opening a location in Delmont.
Jersey Mike’s subs are made-to-order. Regulars know that ordering a hoagie “Mike’s Way” includes onions, lettuce, tomato, oregano, salt and dressing.
A target opening date was not clear.
