A Jimmy Buffett tribute band will kick off next summer’s concert series at Pittsburgh Brewing Co.’s new amphitheater in East Deer.
The band “Changes in Latitude” will take the stage Saturday, June 29 at the new facility, along with two opening acts yet to be announced, the brewery said in a statement Thursday.
The event is for people 21 and older and will take place rain or shine. There will be several food vendors, a mobile cigar bar, giveaways and a best-dressed Parrot Head contest with a prize, according to brewery officials.
The brewery plans to host other concerts throughout the summer.
The concert venue will be able to hold up to 6,000 people, brewery spokeswoman Katie Henningsen said.
“These are very exciting times for us as a company, and we cannot wait to showcase what we have in store for the next calendar year and beyond,” she said. “We are thrilled to unveil our new state-of-the-art amphitheater next June and host thousands of guests for concerts and events throughout the summer.”
Gates for the concert will open at 4 p.m.
Before the concert, the brewery will host a VIP Poolside Party on its front lawn from 1 to 4 p.m. That event will feature a DJ, tiki bar and more. A VIP ticket grants entry to the poolside party and concert and includes a souvenir.
General admission tickets are $35. VIP tickets cost $55. Parking passes are $10 to $15. Tickets can be purchased online at pittsburgh brewing.com.
“This is set to be the anticipated event of the summer, and we are eager to unveil our new amphitheater to the public,” the brewery’s statement read.
Earlier this year, East Deer won approval from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for the township to enforce its own noise ordinance, a move township officials say will help the brewery as it begins to start hosting concerts.
The amphitheater will be behind the brewery building and face the Allegheny River.
Henningsen said the brewery is unsure of the exact number of concerts and what acts it will be hosting this summer, “as we are still in the planning stages for this concert summer series.”
