Logan Bashioum testified Thursday that he didn’t remember much from an alleged attack in New Kensington two years ago.

A video played for jurors during the second day of trial against a brother and sister accused in the beating showed two men standing over Bashioum, who was 17, kicking him and stomping on his head.

“I do not remember clearly what I did when I got on the ground,” he testified.

Bashioum got up under his own power afterward and walked away, the video showed.

His mother, Jennifer Romano, testified Thursday that he went to a hospital and was discharged the same day. He was out of school for three days on the advice of a physician.

The case against Stacey Oneal Jr., 36, and his sister, Krystae Oneal, 33, both of New Kensington, is expected to continue with closing arguments Friday morning.

The siblings are accused of conspiring to assault Bashioum during a neighborhood Easter egg hunt on April 9, 2023 in retaliation for an earlier confrontation with his mother, prosecutors say.

Both Oneals are charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Krystae Oneal is also charged with related counts of simple assault and trespassing in connection with the earlier altercation.

Jurors will have to weigh conflicting evidence when they begin deliberations Friday.

Romano testified that Krystae Oneal came to her house three times that weekend looking for Bashioum, who is now 20.

He is autistic and has attention and learning disorders, his mother said.

Krystae Oneal believed Bashioum stole money and marijuana from her, she testified.

The women got into a fistfight on April 9, 2023. Romano claimed Oneal was irate and came inside her home uninvited that day.

Oneal testified in her own defense that she stayed outside and Romano pushed her backwards before Bashioum punched her twice.

Prosecutors contend Krystae Oneal directed her brother and another man several hours later to attack Bashioum.

Oneal testified that was not true, but said she did tell Stacey Oneal and friend Deron Hinton about what happened.

“I never told them to fight Logan at all,” she said. “After I told them what happened, I guess they made up their own decision.”

Bashioum denied that he stole anything from Krystae Oneal and said he did not punch her.

Stacey Oneal did not testify. The prosecution and both defense attorneys rested their cases Thursday.

Hinton, 32, of Greensburg was the third man charged along with the Oneals. He pleaded guilty in April to aggravated assault and conspiracy counts and was sentenced to serve 5 to 10 years in prison.
