Kiski Area moving toward sports season tickets, all-sport passes for fans

Kiski Area High School sports fans could get a break when purchasing tickets to Cavalier games.

The school board Wednesday gave Athletic Director John Peterman the green light, by consensus, to start designing season ticket programs for Kiski sporting events where admission is charged.

The idea would be to offer savings by buying one ticket for all of a team’s home games over the per-game ticket cost.

Kiski Area has not offered season tickets to this point, Peterman said.

Superintendent Misty Slavic said she approached him with the idea.

“I asked if we could provide season tickets or a family pass — something that would make it a little more affordable for families to attend sporting events,” Slavic said.

Peterman agreed that it’s an that school district residents would support.

“Since I’ve been here, people have been asking about it,” Peterman said.

Currently, the district charges admission primarily for fall and winter sports. That includes football, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, boys and girls soccer, and girls volleyball.

Spring team sports such as baseball, softball and track do not have an admission charge, Peterman said.

All-sports pass?

But season tickets for each team is not the only thing Peterman is working on.

The board also agreed to have Peterman develop something else he suggested: a yearlong, all-sports pass available at one price that would provide admission to any high school sporting event.

“Actually, the all-season pass would be like a credit card — you just show it to the ticket-taker at the gate and then walk right in,” Peterman said.

He said both the individual season tickets and the all-season pass would provide more convenience for the fans, eliminating the need to stand in line to buy a ticket at every game.

As for the savings the district may offer, Peterman said it would likely be a discount of between 10% and 20%.

He said it’s too late to develop season tickets for the fall sports, but he could have them ready for the winter sports season.

Peterman will report back to the board on the season ticket programs and outline the details, including prices.
