A Leechburg woman unintentionally gave a Kiski Township police officer a bag of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Friday night, township police said.

It was one of two drug arrests police made that night.

Kiski police said an officer stopped Bobbie Bernat, 42, for driving erratically about 11:40 p.m. on Cole Road at South Balsiger Road.

Police said when the officer asked Bernat for her license, she “began to go through her pocket book where she unintentionally provided a bag of methamphetamine to the officer.”

Police alleged that when Bernat realized what had happened, she tried to take the drugs from the officer. She was removed from her vehicle and taken into custody.

Police said they found an additional bag of meth and a straw in Bernat’s vehicle upon searching it.

Police charged Bernat with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

Earlier incident

Earlier that night, about 9:40 p.m., Kiski Township police said an officer encountered Clark Headrick Jr., 31, while he was attempting to inject himself with heroin while inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Y Restaurant on Route 56.

Headrick was removed from the vehicle and detained. Police said they found 13 stamp bags of heroin and a crack cocaine pipe upon searching his vehicle.

Police charged Headrick with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
