Ladles restaurant to reopen in Springdale
The popular Springdale restaurant Ladles is set to reopen soon, according to a Facebook message from the owner of the eatery.
“Since the building has not sold and we haven’t had any interest (from) potential buyers, I have decided to reopen because I do not want to lose my employees and I’m thinking that the business environment might be more stable now,” said Ladles owner Kathy Marsico, who did not return messages from the Trib.
When Ladles closed in September, Marsico said, “We cannot operate at 50% capacity (the state-mandated limit at the time). The future is unclear.”
It was unwelcome news for Alle-Kiski Valley residents who made Ladles a destination for club gatherings, retirement parties or just a night out with family and friends.
But now Marsico says she’s willing to take a “leap of faith” and reopen at the restaurant’s former location on Pittsburgh Street.
“It has been a distressing time for all of us and everything is a gamble at this point when it comes to a restaurant. We will be offering seasonal menus…they will be smaller than we had before.”
Marsico also said the restaurant will not be offering breakfast and hours will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturdays.
“I appreciate and will always appreciate any and all support moving forward and thank you all for being patient and for all of your kind messages and emails,” she said. “The business has always been my love of cooking and of people.”
Before it closed, Ladles was known for homemade soups that Marsico said she prepared like “an artist creating a beautiful painting.”
