Plum’s Movies in the Park series at Larry Mills Park had a drive-in setting this year to allow attendees enough space to socially distance while watching a film.

Plum plans to have a Halloween drive-in movie night a week before the holiday.

Movie night is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at Larry Mills Park.

The borough presents “The Addams Family,” the 2019 animated version from directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan.

It is based on the characters created by Charles Addams and features the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, Snoop Dogg, Bette Midler and Allison Janey.

Admission and popcorn are free. Doors open around 6:30 p.m.

The borough hosted Halloween events at the community center and borough building in previous years.

Officials came up with the Halloween movie night so families can have something to do while social distancing and following other health and safety guidelines during the covid-19 pandemic.

Council President Dave Odom said the borough had tremendous success with its Movies in the Park series this year at Larry Mills Park, and is excited to provide another recreational opportunity for the community.

“It’s a phenomenal venue to do movies in that area,” Odom said. “People are able to bring their families up, use their lawn chairs or sit in their vehicles and enjoy the view and the movie. We continue to get rave reviews on the movies in the park, so it just made sense to have the holiday movie at Larry Mills.”

Vince Lagrotteria, the borough’s audio/video director, said there will be games and Halloween trivia prior to the showing. Audio will be broadcast over speakers and via radio at 106.5 FM.

“I think we’ll have a good number of cars coming out for the drive-in,” Lagrotteria said.

Trick-or-treat is set for 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.
