Those attending the Leechburg Area Museum & Historical Society’s annual meeting Thursday will be able to watch a screening of recently digitized film of events from the 1930s and ’40s.

The approximately 12-minute film will show footage of the 1935 opening of the Leechburg Bridge and a parade that welcomed home World War II servicemen in 1946, according to member Karen Freilino.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. in the basement of the First Lutheran Church at 358 Main St.

Museum Vice President Larry Boehm said Monday that the footage was found in the library collection.

The museum hasn’t decided what it will do with the films in the museum’s collection. Most would have to be digitized.

“There are a lot of films in our collection, and we aren’t sure if we will offer them on our website or otherwise make them accessible,” he said.

In addition to the film screening, the Leechburg group plans to elect officers and new board members.

Freilino said refreshments will be served.
