Leechburg Area School District needs to fill board vacancy following resignation

The Leechburg Area School Board needs a new member to fill a vacancy.

Superintendent Tiffany Nix said board member Roxanne Thompson resigned from the board for personal reasons.

The school board will make an interim appointment of a Leechburg-area resident to fill the open seat. The person will serve out Thompson’s term, through Dec. 4, 2023.

Anyone interested in filling the seat is encouraged to submit a letter of interest and resume to Board Secretary Jaime Spiering by Wednesday. Applications can be submitted by mail to 210 Penn Ave., Leechburg, PA 15656 or emailed to jspiering@leechburg.k12.pa.us.

Applicants must meet criteria that includes:

• Being 18 years old as of the date of the November municipal election

• Having good moral character

• Being a resident of the school district

• Having no record of conviction for any felony offense or any misdemeanor offense involving dishonesty or other “moral turpitude”

• Active-duty military, including reservists serving on active duty, are prohibited from holding a partisan political office
