Leechburg Area School District employees and administrators dressed up as holiday characters Wednesday to serve a Christmas-themed lunch to students.

“This is the first year that we’re dressing up and spreading holiday cheer,” Superintendent Tiffany Nix said. “The joy on the students’ faces was priceless.”

Nix, dressed as Olaf from “Frozen,” was on hand with colleagues dressed as Buddy the Elf, Ebenezer Scrooge, reindeer and a Christmas tree.

The students were allowed to wear their pajamas to school Wednesday, and Christmas music played while lunch was served.

The staff first dressed in costumes during a Thanksgiving-themed lunch in November. Nix said it was so well-received by the student body and staff, she decided to extend it to Christmas.

“I’m pretty sure that it brings more happiness to us than it does the kids,” Nix said.
