A 41-year-old Leechburg man is being held in the Jefferson County Jail after police say he traveled to Brookville to meet an individual he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex.
Michael Richard Pack Jr., of Leechburg, faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of first-degree attempted statutory sexual assault, following an investigation by the Brookville police.
On Oct. 30, police were contacted by the group 814 Pred Hunters, based in Clearfield County.
The group, which creates fake underage profiles on social media to identify individuals attempting to solicit minors, informed police about a man who had allegedly made plans to meet one of their decoys.
The group claimed to have been in contact with Pack since the beginning of June. According to the criminal complaint, Pack allegedly started talking to the decoy on a dating app before moving the conversation to text messages.
Police said the messages, occurring over a five-month span, showed the decoy telling Pack she was 15. Pack acknowledges her age multiple times in the messages, police said.
“That wasn’t an age thing. I’m OK with your age. I could really care less about that,” one of Pack’s messages allegedly read. “Souls can connect no matter the age…I keep telling you how much I want you and you keep ignoring it. I don’t know why you keep ignoring it.”
Police said Pack also sent multiple sexual messages to the decoy including a photo of his genitals.
According to police, call phone call logs showed Pack speaking with the decoy multiple times. During a five-hour call on Oct. 30, Pack told the decoy he was on his way to Brookville later that day to meet her.
Pack arranged to meet the teen at a gas station and sent a picture of the gray sedan he would be driving.
Brookville police arrived at the location at the designated time and arrested Pack.
According to the complaint, Pack allegedly admitted to coming to Jefferson County to have intercourse with the person he believed was 15 and acknowledged that he knew it was against the law.
Pack is being held at the Jefferson County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.
