Leechburg man dies in motorcycle crash

A Leechburg man was killed after he was thrown from his motorcycle in Allegheny Township on Saturday evening.

Scottie Joe Hawkins, 32, was ejected from his Harley Davidson motorcycle after the bike left the right side of the roadway, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Timothy Carson.

Hawkins was traveling west on Markle Road when the crash occurred at approximately 7:36 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash from blunt force trauma.

The coroner said that he was not wearing a helmet.

The death was ruled accidental by the coroner.

Allegheny Township police are also investigating the incident and will release additional details at their discretion.
