Jeffrey Scott Nedley, 40, of Leechburg pleaded guilty to charges of making terroristic threats and two counts of simple assault.

A Leechburg man has been ordered to serve up to 23 months in jail in connection with an attempted carjacking last spring in Allegheny Township.

Jeffrey Scott Nedley, 40, pleaded guilty Friday to charges in three cases, including an April 22 incident near the Crossroads Motel on Route 356 in which, police said, he assaulted a man and demanded his vehicle’s keys.

According to court records, Nedley’s accuser claimed Nedley held a knife and threatened to stab him before he punched him in the face. Instead of stealing the car, Nedley fled into nearby woods.

Nedley was arrested three days later in Vandergrift.

He pleaded guilty to charges of making terroristic threats and two counts of simple assault. Felony charges of attempted carjacking and aggravated assault were dismissed by Westmoreland County prosecutors.

Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Scott Mears sentenced Nedley to serve nine to 23 months in jail and ordered that he be paroled to an inpatient drug treatment program.

Nedley also pleaded guilty to two unrelated cases in which he was charged with drunken driving and drug possession.

He received concurrent sentences and no additional jail time in those cases.
