Leechburg Pink Day organizers call for volunteers for drone photo
Leechburg Pink Day organizers are calling community members to action.
Sherry Price, Pink Day coordinator and Leechburg Pink Day secretary and treasurer, is looking for at least 100 people to participate in a drone photo ahead of the Pink Day’s 2025 event.
Price said people in the photo will be asked to stand in formation to make the shape of a pink ribbon in honor of breast cancer awareness. If interested, people are asked to wear pink shirts and show up to Veterans Field in Leechburg at 5 p.m. on Aug. 30.
“We’re asking for a dollar donation to help (defray) the cost of getting the photos printed,” Price said. “Everybody who participates will get a free photo.”
Price said depending on printing costs, the photos might be sold at the Pink Day event.
Andrea and Eric McIntosh of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, one of the event’s longtime sponsors and vendors, have volunteered to take the photo with the drone, Price said.
“We think it’s going to be fun,” Price said. “It’s something I’ve been wanting to do, you know, the entire course of Pink Day.”
In the event of bad weather, the photo will be rescheduled for Aug. 31 at the same time.
