The start of Lower Burrell’s summer paving projects will be delayed for several weeks as Peoples Gas work on gas lines before repaving Violet Drive, Violet Place and California Drive.

The two-day project was to begin on Friday, but the schedule changed late Wednesday because of scheduling of the gas line work, said Amy Rockwell, city administrator.

Residents will be alerted on the exact dates of the repaving project, which will include one day of milling and another of paving.

Residents who live along the three streets will be prohibited from parking on the road during the project.

Tresco Paving Corp. was recently hired to pave the three streets for close to $105,000.

That work was part of summer paving jobs totaling $217,000.

Other road projects in the works:

City council awarded two contracts for road sealing: Youngblood Paving for $91,103, and Midland Asphalt for $21,372.

A list of city roads and dates for sealing will be announced later when the contractors provide a list of scheduled sealing dates, Rockwell said.
