Federal marshals on Wednesday arrested a Springfield, Mo., man accused of selling and delivering the drugs that police allege killed a New Kensington woman last year.

Matthew Covey, 47, is one of three men accused of providing drugs containing heroin and fentanyl that police say killed Shanelle Waugh, 40, on Feb. 13, 2018.

“He was arrested without incident,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Darren Lane said Thursday.

Covey waived extradition and will be brought back to Pennsylvania to face charges.

New Kensington police issued a warrant for Covey’s arrest on Oct. 5 and requested help finding him from the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force.

The task force began working the case and developed information that Covey may have fled Pennsylvania and traveled to the Springfield area. The information was passed along to the U.S. Marshals Service-Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force in Springfield, which immediately began searching for Covey.

Two other men were charged in the case. Tre-Ron Arnez Jackson, 25, of Pittsburgh, and Gust Robert Stone, 39, of New Kensington.

Jackson remained at large Thursday. Stone waived his charges to Westmoreland County Court and is set to appear for a pretrial conference on March 29.
