The man accused of shooting three people during a baby shower at the Kinloch Fire Hall in Lower Burrell on Sept. 18, 2021 has been ordered to stand trial in Westmoreland County Court.

A man charged with shooting three people during a Sept. 18 baby shower in Lower Burrell was ordered to stand trial in Westmoreland County Court.

Isiah J. Hampton, 25, of Victoria Avenue in Arnold is accused of shooting a 23-year-old man in the torso, a 19-year-old woman in the leg and a 16-year-old boy in the buttocks during a shower for his unborn baby, according to a criminal complaint filed to support the charges. The incident took place at the Kinloch fire hall.

None of the gunshot wounds was life-threatening.

Hampton surrendered to police moments after he left the fire hall with the mother of his unborn child.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

Peck Yakopec ordered Hampton to stand trial on the charges. A formal arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 1 before Westmoreland County Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an argument Hampton got into with a woman who wanted him to transport gifts from the baby shower, according to the complaint.

Hampton became abusive toward the woman, who then slapped him, prompting Hampton to shove her backwards, police said.

Three men intervened to try to stop Hampton, who fell to the ground, police said.

During the struggle, Hampton pulled out a pistol and shot the man and the teenage boy, according to the complaint.

When others tried to wrestle the gun from Hampton, the weapon went off and a woman was grazed in the leg by a bullet, police said.

Bystanders eventually got the gun from Hampton and placed it on the bar until police arrived, according to the complaint.

Hampton at first was detained in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post a $250,000 bond. His bond was reduced to $75,000 at his Sept. 28 preliminary hearing before District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec, but he was unable to post that amount and remains in jail.
