State police charged an East Franklin man with homicide after, they say, he got into a dispute with another man on Sunday and shot him to death in North Buffalo.

Police charged Nicholas Alexander Fortuna, 24, of the 100 block of Alpine Wood Drive with a felony count of criminal homicide along with two counts of possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting death of Johnathan Blackburn, 23.

No additional information about the victim was released by state police.

Fortuna is in the Armstrong County Jail after bond was denied at his arraignment, according to court records. He faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge J. Gary DeComo on May 31.

A state police trooper arrested Fortuna after responding to a home in the 200 block of Wilson Road in North Buffalo shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sunday and finding Blackburn dead from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a criminal complaint.

The house is in a rural area about 4 miles west of Route 28.

Police said Fortuna and Blackburn were hanging out at the house with another man and a woman when Blackburn got angry that the woman was leaving with Fortuna and the other man.

Fortuna and the other man got into a pickup truck to leave and Blackburn struck the driver side mirror and began yelling at Fortuna, according to the complaint.

Police said Fortuna pulled out a handgun and shot out of the truck into the ground as Blackburn was walking away.

Investigators said Blackburn returned to the driver’s side window and reached into the cab to grab Fortuna, who then fired multiple shots and killed him.

Police obtained a search warrant for the Ford F-150 that Fortuna was driving and found a .40 caliber H & K pistol in the vehicle along with multiple spent shell casings, the complaint said.
