An East Deer man who went bathing in the Allegheny River on Friday was found dead in the water two days later, according to police.

Arnold police Chief Eric Doutt identified the man as Addam Isaac Roe, 28, of Sherman Street in East Deer.

A boater found Roe’s body floating in the middle of the river about 4 p.m. Sunday in the area of the 1500 block of Riverside Drive, Doutt said.

Doutt said there were no signs of foul play.

According to Doutt, Roe’s family said he left the house to take a bath in the river after work and never returned.

Doutt said police on Monday found work pants, one sock, a red bandanna and a bar of soap on the East Deer river shore.

Doutt could not say how Roe was identified.

Roe had not been reported missing, Doutt said.

New Kensington firefighters recovered Roe’s body from the river. Deputy Westmoreland County Coroner Cara L. Shaffer pronounced him dead at the scene.

The coroner’s office said the cause and manner of Roe’s death were pending autopsy and toxicology results.

According to his obituary, Roe lived his entire life in East Deer. He was working in carpentry, having previously been a cook and chef.

Services for Roe will be private. Duster Funeral Home in Tarentum is handling arrangements.
