A man was in critical condition after being shot in a parking lot at The Waterworks shopping center near Aspinwall late Saturday night, according to police.

According to authorities, the victim walked into the emergency room at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital, which is adjacent to the Waterworks, around 11:30 p.m. He had been shot in the shoulder and groin.

He was flown to a trauma center, and was in critical condition upon arrival, police said.

Officers found a crime scene in the parking lot behind Anytime Fitness at 921 Freeport Road at The Waterworks.

Police were continuing to investigate.
