A vehicle and e-bike collided on Drey Street and Constitution Boulevard in Arnold on Tuesday night.

A man was taken to a hospital after he was riding his e-bike and was hit by a Jeep in Arnold on Tuesday night, police said.

At around 9 p.m., first responders from Arnold and New Kensington responded to the intersection of Constitution Boulevard and Drey Street in Arnold, near Roosevelt Park, for reports of a vehicle and pedestrian crash.

Arnold Patrolman Timothy Christian said it appeared that the e-bike, operated by a man who was about 73 years old, was driving up Drey Street when the Jeep was driving down Drey Street.

It appeared the Jeep driver was making a left turn onto Constitution Boulevard when she hit the e-bike, Christian said. She did not see the e-bike, Christian said.

The man was taken by ambulance to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Christian said.

“From my understanding, he’s alert and conscious,” Christian said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Hawk Towing of New Kensington towed the e-bike from the scene. It was cleared at around 9:30 p.m.

A man who would only identify himself as Scott said he lives nearby on Sixth Street and didn’t see the crash but heard it. He said he ran over to the scene immediately.

“I ran over here and I told them not to move until an ambulance gets here,” Scott said.

Scott said the man had a bloody head, elbows and toes.

“He got lucky — this is a bad intersection,” Scott said. “She (the Jeep driver) was beyond remorseful.”
