A man evaded police capture after assaulting his girlfriend in Brackenridge on Saturday, according to police and court records.

Police were looking for Quincy B. Jones, 48.

Jones pleaded guilty to murder in Philadelphia 20 years ago, court records show.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman told Allegheny County 911 that Jones, who is her boyfriend, beat her up, struck her with a lawn trimmer and strangled her at a home on Morgan Street.

While officers were heading there, they were told that Jones had left on foot.

Jones was described as Black and bald with a salt-and-pepper beard. He was wearing blue jeans, a white tank-top shirt and red shoes.

The woman told officers that Jones had hit her several times with his hands, struck her in the body with the lawn trimmer, smashed her head into a wall, and strangled her with both hands to the point she was having a hard time breathing, the complaint states.

The woman had marks on her neck, police reported.

Medics evaluated the woman, but she refused to be taken to a hospital, saying she’d go later if she was in any more pain, according to the complaint.

Tarentum police Chief William Vakulick confirmed Sunday that officers did not apprehend Jones on Saturday. Tarentum’s police department patrols Brackenridge.

According to court records, Jones was charged in February 2003 with murder and firearms-related offenses in Philadelphia. In June 2005, he pleaded guilty to murder, for which he was sentenced to between 12½ to 25 years in prison, and to possessing instruments of crime, for which his sentence was two to five years in prison.

No further details on the Philadelphia case were immediately available.

Police said in the complaint that they had been to the home several times dealing with Jones, and had seen him about about an hour before Saturday’s call wearing the same clothing.
