Mass covid-19 vaccination clinic set for former Sears at Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer
The Allegheny Health Network is opening a mass covid-19 vaccination clinic in the former Sears Grand store in the Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer on April 20.
About 6,000 to 6,500 people are expected to receive the first Pfizer vaccine April 20 and the second one May 11, according to Dan Laurent, AHN’s vice president of corporate communications.
The vaccines are by appointments only. To register, visit AHN online at ahn.org/coronavirus/vaccine/schedule. Vaccinations will be administered from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We’re excited to get to the Mills to hold our first big mass clinic out that way,” Laurent said of the Alle-Kiski Valley. “Our vaccination strategy, Highmark Health and AHN, is to respond in the communities where people live.”
AHN has administered about 250,000 doses of covid-19 vaccine, Laurent said. Of those, about 200,000 shots were given in communities, including PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Dick’s Sporting Goods headquarters in Findlay, the Monroeville Convention Center, and smaller venues such as churches and other locations.
Vaccinating at larger sites will continue with more mass vaccination event announcements to come, he said.
“We’ve been aggressively looking for locations to go bigger,” Laurent said.
Two mass vaccinations are planned for April 12 and 26 in Monroeville. AHN will change the venue from the convention center to NextTier — the former Westinghouse headquarters at 4350 Northern Pike — later for people needing their first vaccination dose.
